Design research is constantly evolving and adapting to the increasingly complex world we live in. But is evolution enough or do we need a design research revolution? And what opportunities would a design research revolution afford?

What are the next steps for design research…

Manchester School of Art at Manchester Metropolitan University are pleased to host The Next Steps… Symposium to complement the Design Research Society’s Annual General Meeting.

The Next Steps… will be of interest to design researchers who wish to question the norm, probe the now and embrace the new. The Symposium will include provocative presentations from design researchers while also providing opportunity for a lively discussion of emerging design research debates chaired by Professor Rachel Cooper OBE, President of the Design Research Society.

Speakers will include:

  • Philip Cash, Department of Management Engineering, Technical University of Denmark
  • Paul Coulton, Professor of Speculative and Game Design, Lancaster University
  • Tash Willcocks, Director of Masters Europe, Hyper Island
  • Martyn Evans, Professor of Design, Manchester Metropolitan University
